This past weekend we held our annual Kappagiving event & it was a great success! We were able to feed 100 families which is a win for the community. We also would like to thank those who were involved with putting on this event & to the sponsor who donated food/goods, can’t wait for next year 🦃♦️

ADVOCACY SPOTLIGHT

Last week, 3L Donté Houston competed in the Harris County DA’s closing argument competition and took home first place. Donté competed against 23 other interns and received the highest score in the preliminary round and advanced to the final round where he again scored the highest. Congrats Donté!

Donté is a member of the A&M Mock Trial team, and last year competed on the BLSA team which took first place at their regional competition and advanced to nationals! This upcoming semester, Donté will be headed to Puerto Rico to compete at the Puerto Rico Trial Advocacy competition!

The Brothers of FWAC of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated wanted to share how proud we are of our Brother Donté Houston for his achievement!!!

The Brothers of the Fort Worth Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated did it again!!! On Sunday, August 11th they conducted another successful Kappa Kutz Community Service event at Crowley Middle School. Free haircuts, backpacks, and food were provided to the kids.

The Brothers of the Fort Worth Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated along with the Fort Worth Silhouettes and Kappa League honored Mrs. Opal Lee for her work and commitment to the community of Forth Worth on Saturday the 10th of August.
Opal Lee is an American retired teacher, counselor, and activist in the movement to make Juneteenth a federally-recognized holiday. She is often described as the "grandmother of Juneteenth". On June 17, 2021, President Joe Biden signed Senate Bill S. 475, making Juneteenth the eleventh federal holiday.

The Fort Worth Alumni Chapter Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation awarded scholarships to Mr. Kolten Williams, Jr. and Mr. Jon’Tavien Bowens-Duffie. Kolten will attend University of Houston / Psychology. Jon’Tavien will attend Texas State / major in Sports Medicine. Congratulations to these young men as they begin their college journey.

On May 15, 1911, Kappa Alpha Nu Fraternity filed Articles of Incorporation in the state of Indiana, becoming the first African American college fraternity to be incorporated as a national body.

“….Articles of Incorporation were filed in the office of the Secretary of the State of Indiana on May 15, 1911, to incorporate the Grand Chapter of Kappa Alpha Nu. The individuals filing the Articles were: Byron K. Armstrong, Ezra D. Alexander, Guy Grant, Paul Caine, Elder W. Diggs, John M. Lee, George Edmonds, Marcus Blakemore, Edward Irvin, Henry T. Asher and Fred O. Mitchell (Mitchell had been at Indiana the year before and signed the application, but was never initiated nor active in any sense in KAN hence, he was not a member)” – Founder Byron K. Each day this week, we will take time to recognize the Senior Kappa Brothers of the Fort Worth Alumni (TX) Chapter. These Senior Kappa brothers have made outstanding contributions to Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and accomplished some remarkable life achievements in every field of human endeavor.

We appreciate and celebrate our Senior Kappas and acknowledge the outstanding work and dedication they continue to provide to Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. We honor these men for what they represent in our distinguished brotherhood and our community.

About Kappa Epsilon:
The Kappa Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on the campus of Texas Christian University on Saturday May 3, 1980. From the beginning the Chapter, like the Fraternity, was focused on Achievement. The brothers of Kappa Epsilon were known all over for their fanatical approach to Achievement. To challenge a single member of Kappa Epsilon, let alone the entire chapter to any significant task was considered crazy, thus giving birth to the moniker, “KrazEy KE.”

Overtime, with the initiation of various members of TCU’s athletic teams, such as Super Bowl XXX MVP Larry Brown and Olympic Medalist Jon Drummond, many Kappa brothers begin to refer to Kappa Epsilon as the “Swole Khapter of the Southwestern Province.”

Like our Fraternity motto suggests, KE initiates, like Kappa men across the nation, are dedicated to the cause of honorable Achievement in every field of human endeavor. In fact, KE alumni are comprised of successful business owners, doctors, lawyers, educators, professional athletes, professional coaches, actors, police officers and even wealth advisors.
